Concord puts more land back into agriculture!
Recently, Gaining Ground, Massport, and the Natural Resources Commission collaborated to give three acres of unused land overgrown with invasives a more useful agricultural future. The meadow, owned by Massport and located on Virginia Road, is surrounded by protected wetlands, and special care is being taken to work within the bounds of the recently enacted town Wetlands Bylaw.
The land will be farmed organically by Gaining Ground, and will eventually be open to volunteers who will help with daily farm work. The produce will be delivered within 24 hours and 25 miles of the farm, to families in need, according to Gaining Ground's mission.
